I feel, then I take the picture.
I see the picture before I take the picture.
I absolutely delight in creating the image that captures the day, the moment, the feeling that preserves a memory.
A proud east side native of Madison, Wisconsin, photography has been a passion since the first assignment for the high school yearbook, more than just a few years ago.
From 1995-2006 I owned and operated Rubens Photography in Missoula, Montana. With manually-loaded, 12 shots at a time, 120 size film and a gorgeous Hasselblad camera, my work focused on weddings, families and portraits. Publication credits include the cover and throughout the Missoulian Brides and Grooms guide for ten straight years, The Women’s Club, Missoula Downtown Association, Montana Film Office and The University of Montana.
A year-long detour to Baltimore, Maryland included photos published in the Baltimore Sun, Nursing Spectrum, Advance for Nurses, American Nurse Today and Nursing Magazine.
Now back in Wisconsin to stay, I thoroughly enjoy combining the challenge of triathlon with my creative spark and the wide-open world of digital photography to produce commercial stock images.
"Love and Pain, the Secret Sauce of Ironman" is my series on the Ironman Wisconsin triathlon in Madison, Wisconsin. You will also find an array of images capturing the spirit of Wisconsin, wildlife, holiday seasons, and the natural beauty found in the mightiest of the Great Lakes, Lake Superior.
Wisconsin publication credits include the Wisconsin State Journal, Sun Prairie Star, Prairie Athletic Club and the Town Planner community calendar.
I hope you enjoy the images and I welcome your comments and feedback. If you have any questions please contact me at annie@annierubensphoto.com.
